James Stanley Hostetler, 98, formerly of Crescent Township, died on May 24, 2026 in Riverview Manor, Ashbury Senior Living, Lewisburg, PA. “Jimmy” was born in Glenwillard, PA on January 4, 1928 the son of the late Darl & Jane (McCarrier) Hostetler.

He was a passionate Steelers fan and enjoyed fishing, camping, exercise, music, dancing, and his extended family. Jim and his wife Mary spent many retirement years wintering in Florida where they made a host of new friends. Jim was a practicing Christian who enjoyed sharing his faith and inspiration with others.

I will never forget Jimmy He was always so thoughtful about coming up to see us And always calling and checking on us very often Even till this past year. Rest in peace Jimmy!
I met Jim thru my job, he very soon became more than a client. Jim opened his heart to me and my family, treating us like family indeed. His story’s drew us in and he retold them so very well. I consider Jim a father figure, he even showed me how to dance and the boys a few marine moves. Our hearts will cherish each moment! Thank you Jim for believing in me. I have often thought that I was born in the wrong era…. Jim understood my old fashion ways and boy did he give praise. His praise helped me accept who God had designed me to be. Working with Jim always made the day better . See you again some day (Ginny)
I met Jim through my friend Jodie who works for Riverwoods. I brought in my puppy Jax to meet him. I talked to Jim for a while that day. I absolutely adored him. He was an amazing man. I always checked up on Jim. He would ask about Jax and I as well. Rest in Peace Jim.

To the entire Hostetler family, please accept my sincerest condolences with the passing of “Mr. Hostetler”. Having grown up 4 doors up the street from the Hostetler homestead, he was someone who was a part of my life on a daily basis for almost 20 yrs. I could go on for hours with the stories of him, almost all of them fantastic memories… except for one. And that was the time that he made me, Gary, and Gregg, tear down our tree house in the woods behind his house because the boards were really rotting and was unsafe. Boy was I mad ! But that was an important part of who Mr. Hostetler was: he was always watching out for not only his family and kids, but also those around him. He was a special person and he, as well as the entire family, hold a very special place in my heart and in my memories. I am sure he has impacted many, many others in very similar ways. You will be missed Mr. Hostetler !
I pray that the Lord will watch over your entire family, give them all peace, and walk with them in this difficult time.
Sincerely, Kerry Meier, Jr.
(Gary: I just discovered I now live 1.5 hrs from you. I’ll look you up this summer.)
Rick: So sorry for your loss. 98 is a long life and it sounds as though he was very much loved and honored. May the Lord comfort you and strengthen you in this time of grief, and may your father rest in peace.
