Carl T. Gartley

Carl T. Gartley, 94, of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 in Concordia Villa St. Joseph, Baden, PA.  He was born in Avonmore, PA, Westmoreland County the only child of Glenn T. and Hazel Gartley. He was a graduate of Aliquippa High School class of 1949. Served in the US Army during the Korean War. Was a retiree of J&L Steel, LTV Steel having worked in the welded tube department.  He also worked part time as a driver for the weekly newspaper publication called, “The News”, Aliquippa.  Carl was a member of Ohio United Presbyterian Church, Hopewell Twp. and St. James Masonic Lodge #457, Beaver.  Over the years he managed, coached, and devoted many hours to the Hopewell Little League.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Gianiodis Gartley; three children: Carl (Lynn) Gartley, Karen Gartley, and William (Amy) Gartley, all of Hopewell Twp.; Six grandchildren: Amanda (Chris) Coble, Kasey (Nick) Hoth, Carolyn (Zack) Iorio, Jake, Grace, & Faith Gartley; Nine great grandchildren: Easton and Tanner Coble, Parker, Camden, Breyson, Penelope, and Calliope Hoth, Collins and Jay Iorio. A special nephew, Richard Valiga and his partner Michelle Stover and a nephew Jim Valiga.


The family would like to thank doctors; William Ferri, Michael Malkowski and Michael Karp for their excellent care.


Many thanks to all the staff at Concordia Villa St. Joseph for their compassionate care and hard work. 

All services are private.

Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
