  1. God Speed, Tom. I did not know you for long, but your professional presence will never be forgotten. Your witty comments and room-filling laugh made an impact, and made everyone’s day that much better. My family shares its prayers with yours.
    Cheers to a wonderful life!

  2. I met Mr. Hazenstab in 1993, he was always a winner. He was instrumental in the first big Luran S close on the Jeep grand Cherokee cowl vent grill. I invited him to play in a golf scramble soon after meeting him and we won it due to Tom’s awesome play. Tom was a winner as a husband, father, friend, colleague….We send our condolences and love to the Hazenstab Family . RIP my brother Tom

  3. The man was a star that burned strong and bright. Someone who loved everything he did with his family at the front and center. He will be remembered and dearly missed. Prayers and thoughts to his family at these times.

  4. “Stab” as we called him. A great friend and colleague that was always there for anyone. He would drop everything to help anytime. He will be missed dearly by everyone whom he touched in his life. The stories are endless and Tom loved to reminisce about all the great times we had together. May his family be blessed with strength and love from those around them.

  5. Stab!! I have no words to describe how great you were. I met him in 1994 during my technical training in BASF, I learned everything about Polyamide (Nylon) thanks to him. We worked for many years together and he was always there!. Great friend, husband, father and person. He cared for everyone and was always there when you needed him. He had a big heart!! . He will be missed, but we will always remembered him as he left us with great memories and learnings. God blessed you and your family Tom. You will be always in my heart! Thanks for everything you gave to all of us!!

  6. I will always remember Tom as a larger-than-life individual. He was always someone you always wanted to be around. Incredibly kind and full of joy and laughter, he was someone I would immediately look for when I walked into a room. Tom was never alone! The world was a better place with him. Blessings and peace to his family and loved ones.

    1. Great memories with Tom, full of energy and ideas, passionate on everything he was engaged with. Hard to believe he is no longer with us, but I will. always be grateful that our paths crossed at BASF. Cheers to you Tom! always be remembered.

  7. Tom was someone that I always considered family. He was like a brother to me. He had a big personality and even bigger heart. He is going to be missed deeply. There are so many fond memories that it’s hard to imagine a tomorrow without him. God bless Sue, Ray, Tyler, and the entire Hazenstab family during this difficult time.

  8. With sadness I say goodbye to our dear colleague, Tom. Although our interactions were few over the years he clearly and always came to me as an energetic, animated, and a natural storyteller that left an indelible mark on me. We laugh a lot every time we had some time to talk.

Strong-willed, he approached life and work with clear mind and determination. His presence will be deeply missed.

May his family and loved ones find comfort in the cherished moments shared with him.

  9. I first met Tom in 2009 when I joined BASF, during some global meetings. Since the beginning Tom was very supportive to our Brazilian team, and I always considered him a friend, despite the distance. He was a great guy to work with, an expert in his field, always ready to support. We will miss him a lot and we hope his family can find the required strength to deal with such difficult moment, we will keep them in our prayers. Rest in peace Tom.

  10. So sad to learn about the passing of Tom. What an energetic, positive, and friendly charachter he was! He deeply marked us all who were lucky enough to meet him. He will be badly missed, but highly and warmly remembered. May his family find peace soon and may Tom rest in peace…

  11. I met Tom only 5 years ago when I joined Ineos team, and since that moment I start seeing him as a mentor. He started to believe in me, he always said we will push me and give me tools for success. He was a great leader and friend. He will be definitely missed for all of us in work, but we will keep sharing memories and valuable knowledge we got from him. Thank you Tom for all the support you gave me, I will continue doing things the best way possible so you are proud of our team!
God bless you and your family during this difficult time. Rest in peace.

  12. Like so many, I wish I had more time with Tom. Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Tom for a short time, he made me feel as though he always had time for me. I learned so much in the two years I worked with Tom at INEOS Styrolution, plenty about the plastics industry and ASA, but more importantly about how to live. There was never a conversation in which he didn’t ask how I was doing, how my family was doing, or even how my dogs were doing! That’s the type of guy Tom was; A larger than life individual who cared deeply about those around him, but no one more passionately than his wife and sons. All I can think of is how proud Tom was of his family (and secondarily, his golf game). He talked about Sue, Ray and Tyler all the time. And when met with the question “how are you?” Tom always said, “livin’ the dream,” and he meant it- he’d always follow up with a fun story about time spent with his family.
Tom was inclusive of absolutely everyone and steadfast in his belief that kindness, empathy, and compassion could solve many problems.
I consider myself incredibly lucky to have met Tom. He has most certainly left a massive gap in the lives of the many, many people he impacted.
My thoughts and prayers are with Sue, Ray, Tyler and all of the family and friends he loved so deeply.
    Rest in Peace, Tom.

  13. I’ve known Tom for nearly 20 years. Since the first time we met, I knew he was quite a character. Savvy in business and always lively and full of jokes. I feel fortunate for his friendship. God bless Tom and his family. You’ll be missed tremendously.

  14. Numerous lessons and takeaways from talking or just listening Tom, I remember specifically one “Problems always will appear, as long as we communicate with each other, we’ll figure it out”.

Our prayers are with the Hazenstab Family and friends.

  15. It’s hard to come up with words at this time. Tom was so full of life and passion – whether for work or family. He loved his work and the company, especially those that he worked with. He was very knowledgeable and full of know how. If you wanted info on products, markets and what was the “best way” … Tom was someone to be consulted.
We often hear that we are all replaceable. While that may be true, it is MUCH MORE difficult to replace some … and Tom is one of those. He will be missed!
While I think of Tom as the business person that he was, I also think of him as the family man that he was. He really enjoyed his work … but he LOVED his family. My heart goes out to his wife and kids … Tom was taken too soon, he gave so much and had so much more to give!
My thoughts and prayers for Tom and his family.

  16. The world definitely loss a great person and I am deeply saddened of not being able to call Tom for advice and insights. Tom was a big part of my career journey as a mentor and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have known him. As mentioned by many, he was larger than life with a big heart, always chatted about our families/home projects, a great teacher, always smiled when I saw him in person, and known for his phrase “living the dream.”
I remember being intimidated when I first met him (BASF, NJ, 2009) because of his big voice, intelligence, and I had big shoes to fill, plus all the crisis we were going through with supply BUT shortly I realized I could call him without hesitation and we made a good team. After each call, he ended with “call me anytime.” It was difficult to write this in past tense, I’m still wrapping my head around this as he was too young.
To Sue, Ray, Tyler and the rest of the family, my deepest sympathy for your loss and may God bless you with strength during this difficult time.
    RIP Tom

  17. I met Tom more than 20 years ago at BASF and immediately saw how driven and focused he was. When our businesses were reunited in 2011 as Styrolution, I was not surprised to see how Tom had advanced his career. Sat through many meetings with Tom and it was clear he had a command of the business and ASA product line. He worked hard and played hard. Getting together as a group after the meetings was always a pleasure as the conversation was always entertaining. We will sorely miss Tom as a leader, colleague and friend. My condolences go out to his family at this difficult time.

  18. It was my pleasure to be able to cross path with Tom in our career life. To me, I look up at Tom who is a giant, no challenge is too big for Tom to overcome. Tom is always looking after his junior, making sure we are comfortable to express our thoughts and silently guiding us towards the right direction. His humor and laughter will always be remembered. We will miss you, TOM. Rest in peace!

  19. I have known Tom for quite some years and he was one of the characters I love to work with. His clear vision combined with his confidence in challenging times was impressive. He had always the sense of humor which he showed no matter how tough the challenge was. You will be missed.

  20. It was a great pleasure to say I knew Tom. I first met him eight years ago when I joined INEOS and quickly released the passion for life and work he had. I will miss his shared knowledge on the various business functions he was involved with and his great story telling and quick wit. His wife and family are in my prayers. May you rest in peace.

  21. Words cannot express how much Tom will be missed. He was always there with a witty remark and a smile whenever our paths crossed. His ability to tell a story and make people laugh was a true gift. Thoughts and prayers go out to Tom’s family and friends.

  22. It’s hard to find the right words to say as Tom left us far too early. My heartfelt condolences go out to Sue, Ray, Tyler and all his other family and great friends. I can’t believe that I will not hear another story, solve a project together, or receive my annual golf lesson from Tom. I am thankful that I was able to catch up on the phone one last time with Tom last week. He called to tell me that our forecast was messed up, but after an hour later we had resolved all the world’s issues….or so we thought! It’s hard to imagine that over 30 years has passed by so quickly. I just always thought we would have more time to share stories. Tom will be remembered.

  23. He was my mentor and a close friend, helped me and heard me during some dark and challengeable times of both my personal and professional life. He is still a role model for me to follow and I was blessed for each moment I had with him, either during few ones we could see each other in person, or during the innumerous phone calls we had during the years or text messages to help me out to get the peperoni rolls right. I wish it could have been more but the quality time we had was priceless.

  24. Very hard to think a day without having Tom around. All what I have is good memories, he was an inspiring person, made difficult times go easy and always had a nice perspective on things. We met in 90’s and his personality did not change throughout the years, he had always a big and sincere smile whenever we coincided at work. A very good person that truly will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers to his family wishing them to find soon comfort during this difficult time.

  25. I always consider him as a mentor, he and I did not talk so often but when we did we lasted a long time, he had so much knowledge and he was always trying to get the best out of me, I will surely miss him not only as a colleague but as a good friend that whenever I wanted an advice he was always there even though he was always busy he always had time to listen. I will miss him on meetings when he usually said “living the dream” whenever he was asked how he was doing. My condolences to his family

  26. Dear Hazenstab Family… I am so sorry for your loss. I will be forever grateful for Tom’s friendship and guidance. Tom was so sharing of his time and his knowledge. You are in my prayers. Rest In Peace “Stab”.

  27. I met Tom when I started INEOS Styrolution in November 2019. Tom impact on me was huge. He was super knowledgably and encouraging. As well, he was super kind, caring and a great mentor. As work would go, many times we had tight deadlines which he always says we can only do what we can do. He was really fun person to work with which made work just a little better. His voice and laughter will be missed dearly. To his immediate family, he did speak about one or all of you lots. I feel like I know you all as if you are some extensions of my family even though we have not formally met. My deepest condolences and wishing you all peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. Finally, wish we had more time but deeply feel blessed and grateful that Tom crossed my path in my life even though too short in my opinion.

  28. With great sadness I received the news that my former colleague Tom Hazenstab has passed away. I remember Tom as a great colleague, extremely knowledgeable, strongly committed to Styrenics and INEOS Styrolution‘s customers. He was a strong pillar for the business of the company. I also remember his kindness, his dedication and him being an excellent team player. His golf and bowling skills were legendary in the company. May he rest in piece and may comfort come to his family. I will always remember him.

  29. Every time I think of Tom I see that huge smile and I hear his hearty laugh. Whether it was at work, at the course or in a duck blind he always had a witty story. Any conversation with Tom included updates on family which he loved to share and he always made me feel like he was just as interested in my “kid” stories as well. Losing Tom is an incredible loss to so many but I will try to think of the endless stories we can share about our time with him. I will miss my friend Tom.

  30. “Someone so special can never be forgotten”… I will always remember Tom as a great human being with a brilliant mind and a great mentor!. Since I met him more than 15 years ago in BASF/INEOS, he was always willing to support and guide because he was so knowledgeable and experienced in the Business. He knew exactly what to do at the right moment and that’s what I admired about him.
It’s very sad that I won’t hear anymore his particular laugh, his humor and his favorite phrase “living the dream” no matter what the situation was, he always tried to make it easier and practical. I have good memories and stories of Tom about his family and hobbies. He was that kind of person that before a call or meeting he had always time to ask me about how I was doing and about my family.
Words just can’t say enough, but I hope all his family finds peace during this difficult time.
My thoughts and prayers for Tom and his family. RIP Tom.

  31. I first met Tom “Stab” over twenty years ago at BASF. When we would meet, he would call me Ham’s. I remember Tom as energetic, witty and fun to be around. Whether it was for business or sports, Tom was a guy you wanted on your team. I will always remember him as a great family man, businessman and of course the man who could make any round object do what he wanted. May you rest in peace.

  32. I was fortunate to have worked with Tom at Ineos.  He was a great person; dedicated to his family and successful in his work.  Tom was very generous with his time and humour.  He will be missed and always remembered, especially when the Pittsburgh Penguins are mentioned.

  33. There are those rare people in life that you look forward to seeing. Tom was one of those people. Having worked with Tom, whenever the occasion allowed, you know you would be glad to have spent time with him.

Thoughts and prayers to his family.

  34. There are some people you meet in life that you can instantly bond with and Tom was definitely one of those few. First met him in June 2005, 18years ago when I joined BASF. Over the course of 6years that we worked together, we got to know each other professionally and personally. A great guy who would go out his way to help, a great golfer who got me back into the game, and a guy who always liked at the brighter side of things and life. Even after leaving BASF/Styrolution we kept in touch. Suffice to say, it’s very sad to hear of his sudden passing. You’ll be missed Tom. Rest in Peace my friend. My condolences to the Hazenstab family on your loss.
