Mary Ann (Majesic)Hoffman

Mary Ann Hoffman, 89, lifelong resident of East Rochester, PA passed away peacefully on August 9,

2022. Mary Ann was born on March 29, 1933, to Croatian immigrants Gasper Majesic and Mary (Spicko)

Majesic Milosevich, who arrived on Ellis Island in 1913. She graduated from Rochester High School in

1951 at the top of her class. Through her love of math, she became one of the first female draftspersons

in Beaver County working first at H. H. Robertson in Ambridge, PA, then for 34 years at Michael Baker, Jr. Inc. in Beaver, PA.

Although she suffered with systemic rheumatoid arthritis, she will be remembered for her bright smile,

optimism, and sense of humor and was an inspiration to her daughters and grandchildren. An avid

gardener and artist, she created a showplace of flowers on her little corner lot. She designed her flower

gardens based on the artwork of impressionist Claude Monet, her favorite artist. She also got great

enjoyment from the beautiful birds who visited her garden every day. Mary Ann was very proud of her

Croatian Heritage and sang soprano with the Sveti Nikola Croatian group.

Mary Ann is survived by her two beloved daughters Donna (Tom) Hoffman Brew and Renee Hoffman;

her adored grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Giwa,” Amanda (James) Tkacik Shenton, Eric (Lyndsay) Tkacik and Andrew (Renee Mirka) Tkacik; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Emily Fabanich, Lorain, OH and

Pauline Savanovich, East Rochester, PA.

Her creative intellect, vibrant spirit and loving heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received on August 19, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Huntsman Funeral Home, 502

Adams St., Rochester, PA.

The family expresses their deep appreciation to the staff at Heritage Valley Beaver and to the hospice nurses at Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving kindness and care of Mary Ann.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation at
