Ronald L. Sams
Ronald “Fu” Sams of Rochester, PA, passed away on February 2, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 2, 1944, to the late Ray and Ruth (Clear) Sams of New Brighton, PA.
He is Preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Carmie (Bozza) Sams.
“Fu” is survived by his daughters, Shannon (Curt) Grimm and Anna Marie Sams (Josh Lapic); his grandchildren, Cody, Kyrel and Maddox Lapic, Ryder and Kyler Grimm, all of Rochester, Pa.; his sister, Robin (Don) Watson of Daugherty Twp, and his beloved canine companion, Penny. He is also survived by a very special nephew who was like a son to him, Anthony (Buddy) Bozza, Jr, and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated in 1962 from New Brighton High School. He worked at B &W Steel Mill, Taylor’s Men’s Clothing, Lisle T. Miller Clothing, Laborer’s Local 833 New Brighton, TSA Security at Pittsburgh Airport. He retired in 2005.
Ron loved playing softball for 35 years. He was a member of the American Softball Association (ASA) of PA. He was a member of the Blatz Softball team. Over the years, he played in many ASA tournaments in various states. He also coached 8 years with the Lady Owls 1822 girls Beaver County travelling softball league. The girls won 3 county championships and numerous trophies for runner-up. He was Protestant by faith.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc. of Rochester (502 Adams St.) where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 AM.
The family would like to thank his many friends who visited him, brightening his final days, and Good Samaritan Hospice.
