Helen R. McNear

Helen R. McNear 96, of Monaca, passed away on November 11, 2025.  She was born on November 10, 1929 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Howard and Annabelle Gossard. She was a longtime and active member of the First Wesleyan Church of Rochester. Helen enjoyed  daily devotions, gardening, puzzles and crocheting. Her real love was her family. She loved spending time cooking and baking with and for her family and hosting Sunday dinners for them throughout the years. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Robert McNear in 2003; a daughter Roberta McNear; a great grandson Cameron; and her siblings: Howard Gossard Jr., Glenn Gossard, Dorothy Gossard, James Gossard, and Marge Zeider. 

She is survived by her two daughter: Connie (Rod) Gasche and Mary (Matt) Petrella; grandchildren: James (Nikki) Gasche, Holly (Ricky) Seltz, Tracy (Scott Kilzer) Tharp, Gordon Gasche, and Vanessa Gasche Maureen Fitzsimmons Amy Tilly; great grandchildren: Tyler, Taylor, Ethan (Lexie), Jayden, Jordan, Sydney, Bryce, Payton, Brandon,Noah, Matthew; great great grandchildren: Hayes, Sabrina, Bennett, Presley, Mia, Natalie, and Dominic; cherished and loved by Hellen: Susan Motter and Deena Johnson. 

Friends will be received on Monday, November 17th2025 from 3pm until 7pm in Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Rochester.  The service is private.

Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army 378 Jefferson St. Rochester, PA 15074.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for their wonderful care of Helen.

  2. Helen was the best neighbor l had living next door to her in Monaca. Always a soft spoken lady with a sweet smile. She had a beautiful family and l will miss her. So sorry Mary Connie and all the family left behind. You all have great memories to hold in your minds and hearts. Till we all meet together in Heaven. We will be praying for you all
