LeRoy Rugg
LeRoy Rugg, 78, of Moon Twp., died on February 6, 2023 in his home. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ on January 31, 1945, the son of the late James and Jessie (Bower) Rugg.
LeRoy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering and went on to work for Calgon as an industrial water treatment engineer and patented inventor. LeRoy loved his job and worked at various companies including Nalco and EcoLab until he retired at 71 years old. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Christian Business Men’s Association, and served as a lay Eucharistic minister at St. Stephen’s Church.
He loved his family, his church, and his friends. He enjoyed grilling, especially peppery NY strip steaks and white Alabama chicken, container gardening with a self-designed drip irrigation system, caring for his pristine lawn, dancing to Doo-wop groups, singing and karaoke, puns, mercilessly teasing anyone he met, cars (especially his Pontiac GXP and various sports cars over the years), sipping Scotch, sitting with his wife on their deck, leading a home group Bible study, and most of all his Savior, Jesus Christ. LeRoy was warm, generous, quick to laugh, and loved by many.
He is survived by his wife, Karen E. (Fitzgerald) Rugg; two daughters, Jennifer Sallade (Mark), Flourtown, PA, and Kathleen Eisenbeis (Thomas), Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Anna Kate, Rachel, Hayley, and Ethan; his sister, Karen Panza (Bob), Somers Point, NJ; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service on March 18th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Church, Sewickley.
The Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Moon Twp. is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to: Moon Twp. Rotary Club or Center for Hope, Ambridge, PA.
