Melvin L. “Whitey” Leichliter

Melvin L. “Whitey” Leichliter, of Aliquippa, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday October, 19, 2021 in Tapestry Senior Living, Moon Twp. He was born July 1, 1929 in Fayette County the son of the late Ellis Ray & Myrtle Leichliter.  He was a retired mill foreman with J&L Steel as well, he retired from Aliquippa Schools as security.  He was a US Army Veteran. He loved to fish and watch Pittsburgh sports teams.  He also enjoyed camping at Plantation Park in Mercer. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis in 2016, a son-in-law, John “Red” McWilliams, a grandson, John D. McWilliams Jr. and 4 brothers. 

Six children: Evelyn McWilliams, Hopewell Twp.; Sharon “Sissy” Mineard (Gary), Aliquippa; Lloyd Wayne Leichliter (Donna), McDonald; David “Pudge” Leichliter (Sheila), Hopewell Twp.; Donald Leichliter (Shirley), Center Twp.; Kathy McConnell (Randy), Independence Twp. Fourteen grandchildren: Sherry, Gregory, Shawn, Ryan, Kristen, Wayne Robert, Lora, Melissa, Jeffrey, Shane, Shannon, Hannah, Stephanie & Stacie and 15 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Monday from 3pm until 7pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11AM. 

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
