William Thomas “Rex” Rexroad

William Thomas Rexroad {Rex} (94) of New Brighton passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 22, 2021 under the wonderful care of Heartland Hospice and Cambridge Village Personal Care Residence.  Born September 18, 1927 in (Richie County) West Virginia, the son of the Late Harley and Elsie (Hedge) Rexroad.

After serving in the US Navy in 1945/1946, he then returned to school for his high school diploma.  Rex chose a lifelong resident in New Brighton with the love of his life (of 72 years), Doris (Greaves) Rexroad whom he lost March 11, 2020.  An active member of the New Brighton United Methodist Church he served as superintendent of Sunday School, was a trustee on finance committee, and head usher, and was a member of the United Methodist Men. Bill’s second love was Union Lodge 259 F&AM where he served as Past Master 1974 & 1984, and received his 32nd degree at the Consistory Legion of Honor in New Castle, PA

Bill worked at Westing House Electric, Tower Cable Co., Babcock & Wilcox,  just a few to mention.  And after retiring he still wanted to work so he got a job at the  Medical Center in maintenance.  He loved to work,  enjoyed reading westerns, Pittsburgh Steelers and going to casinos with Doris.  While raising their children they spent many years at Jumonville a Christian Camp and Retreat Center.  Of all their travels to many destinations, over the years Rex and Doris spent many Septembers vacationing at Myrtle Beach their favorite destination.

He is survived by his son Bill Jr. (Maria), Rochester, daughter Deborah (Dan) Beaver Falls, granddaughters, Megan (Jeremy) Pittsburgh, Brittany (Mark), North Carolina, two nieces Jody Dyer, Richmond Texas and Carol Gigliotti, of New Brighton. 

He is preceded in death by sisters: Madge, Manoca, Avagine, Beatrice, brothers:  Charles, Frank, Ray, James, Gail.  And his beautiful granddaughter, Jessica Elaine whom God called home at 3 ½ months. 

Friends will be received at Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Rochester on Sunday from 3pm-7pm.  As well on Monday from 10am until the time of Funeral Service at 11am in the New Brighton United Methodist Church.

Members of Union Lodge #259 F&AM will conduct a Masonic Service on Sunday at 6:30pm in the funeral home.

Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will conduct Military Services at 11:45 on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made Jumonville C/O Family Week Project 887 Jumonville Rd. Hopwood, PA  15445 in Bill and Doris name.
