Richard Lee Glass

 

Richard Lee Glass, 66, of New Sewickley Twp., passed away on October 20, 2019. He was born in Rochester, PA on December 24, 1952, a son of the late John R. and Marjorie (Whelan) Glass.

He was a 1970 graduate of Freedom High School, where he was the Senior Class president. He was a newscaster and disc jockey for The WEDA radio station in Grove City. He was a scholar, attending and graduating from Slippery Rock University, where he received his degree in Communications. He received his Masters Degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and was in the Doctorate program at Kent State University. He served as the Township Supervisor, New Sewickley Twp., president of Local 2350 Union Chapter of the United Mine Workers. He worked for J&L Steel, the Dowty Mining Equipment (Cranberry), and the SEIU (Service Employees International Union).

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sheila (McFee) Glass; his children, Jeremy (Candace) Glass, Katheryn Glass; his grandchildren, Tyler, Ben, Lila Glass, and William and Lucas Verosky; his brother Jack (Penny) Glass; his nephew, Brian (Jessica) Glass; special cousin, Pam Horter-Moore and his feline companion, Mugz.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 3-7 pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. of Rochester (502 Adams St.) A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM, at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Parish, 632 Virginia Ave. Rochester, PA 15074. Everyone please meet at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Concordia Villa of St. Joseph for the care they provided to Richard.
