Barbara E. Glover
Barbara E. Glover, 85, of Hopewell Twp., died on January 6, 2018 after a long illness. She was born September 5, 1932 in Uniontown, PA the daughter of the late Mary (Beckett) Glover and Roy Kenneth Glover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Gayle Fabanich.
She is survived by her brother Gerald E. Glover, and her cousins: Constance (Dito) Mitchell, Carl P. Dito III, John W. (Lupi) Becket, Kathy Hammoor, Karen Beckett, Renee Beckett, Pamela (Beckett) Wogan and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara graduated from Hopewell High School in 1950. In May of 1951 she began her government career which spanned very interesting years in the history of the United States. Her first position was a clerk-typist in the Pentagon, assigned to the Office of the Chief Signal Officer, Dept. of the Army. As her experience and knowledge grew, she moved from there to the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, Dept. of the Army. Where her familiarity of logistics in the technical services was extremely helpful when summarizing their equipment requests.
She later exercised this knowledge when assigned to the US Army Security Agency. Over her 31 ½ years she worked for the Army, U.S. Air Force, Social Security Administration, and U.S. Dept. of Commerce. She retired in 1983 from the Federal Communications Commission as Administration Assistant to the late Abbott Washburn. They both served in Geneva, Switzerland in Jun/July 1983 when Commissioner Washburn was appointed as Ambassador at Large to head the US delegation to an international meeting of the Western Hemisphere countries to work one-meter size satellite receivers which were being proposed for individual home use.
Per her request, there will be no visitation or services. Interment will take place at a later date in Uniontown, PA.
Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa were entrusted with the arrangements.
