Alan Lee Butler

Alan Lee Butler, 77 of Shepherdstown WV, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday March 2, 2017 in Martinsburg Hospital.  He was born in Sewickley on June 24, 1939 the son of the late Walter and Marion Butler.  He was a US Air Force Veteran.  He graduated Hopewell High School and the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in civil engineering.  He worked as a civil engineer in Pittsburgh, Boston, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Florida.  He was a member of the B.P.O Elks in Sheffield, Aliquippa. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Norman & Gloria Butler, Samuel & Carol Butler, and Thomas Butler. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law Edward Tellish.

He is survived by his three sisters: Leah & John Morena, Nancy Tellish, and a sister-in-law Aurelia Butler; close friends Al Pratt, Carol Rolf Susan Merhaut, Jim & Maryann Butler, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companion and best friend Cali.

Friends will be received on Friday from 3~7pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa. 

Private burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 320 Bilmar Dr. Pittsburgh, PA 15205

  1. Rest in peace Uncle Alan. I will miss your smile and laughter. You were one of the first introductions I had to the Butler clan. Over thirty years ago, you and (although I did not know it at the time) my future in-laws sat in my station at the Red Bull Inn and I was your waitress. You had me laughing within minutes and I was so glad I gained you as an Uncle in marriage.
