Madelyn (Quinn) Schleiger

 

Madelyn (Quinn) Schleiger, passed away peacefully June 17, 2019 at Brighton Rehab & Wellness Center following a lengthy illness.  Born in Rochester, PA, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Rose Bosco Quinn.

She was a resident of Brighton Twp. for 60 years in a home built by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Schleiger.  Madelyn graduated from Freedom High School where she was valedictorian and May Queen.  She was a special education teacher at Freedom School District for 4 years, she then went to Monaca School District to teach English, then became the High School librarian.  She was at Monaca for 32 years and retired from there.  While at Monaca, she served as president of the teacher’s PSEA organization.  She was a member of the Medical Center Auxiliary, a member of Century Club of Beaver, and also a member of the American Association of Women.  She graduated from Geneva College with a BS degree, and earned her Masters degree from Duquesne University.

Madelyn was an avid reader and a bridge player.  She also enjoyed the many vacations around the United States and various countries of world with her husband.

She and her husband of 67 years are now together again.

She is survived by her daughter, Gene Marie; her two grandsons, Alexander and Jonathan of Pittsburgh, PA; a son Scott and his two children; two sisters, Roseann Konvolinka and Verna Maley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Quinn, who is with her up in heaven.

At Madelyn’s request there was no visitation.  A private memorial service with immediate family was held.  Interment took place at the Beaver Cemetery Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beaver Memorial Library or to the Kidney Foundation.
