Evelyn (Hartung) Steele

Evelyn Pearl (Hartung) Steele 91, formerly of Beaver, passed on June 11, 2019.  She was born March 29, 1928 the daughter of the late Lester Hartung and Margaret (Hartung) Enders and the step daughter of Cyril Enders.  She was the chief administrator of Steele’s Television in Beaver.  She was an avid lifelong member of Faith Community United Methodist Church in Rochester, where she served in the Women’s Auxiliary and the MAC class for many years.  Following the death of her husband Jack, Evelyn moved into the King Beaver Apartments where she served as a three-time president of the tenant’s association.  She was also active in the Beaver County Area Agency on Aging.  Evelyn Moved to the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Gastonia, NC where she has resided for the past three years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Steele.

She is survived by her two daughters: Chery Kochirka (Michael) of Pittsburgh and Darlyn Peindl (Dr. Paul) of Gastonia, NC.; 2 granddaughters: Jacqueline Peindl White (Justin), Gastonia, NC; Dena Peindl Havird (Clark), Batesburg, SC; and grandson Lee Peindl (Samantha) Charlotte, NC; 4 great granddaughters: Sarah Grace White, Lily Peindl, Anna Kate and Claire Elizabeth Havird.

Evelyn has expressed unending love for family and friends.  We are all very grateful to her caregivers at Brookdale Assisted Living and Charlotte Hospice and Palliative Care.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 until the time of funeral service at 11am in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Rochester. 502 Adams St.

 

Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Community United Methodist Church 334 Jefferson St. Rochester, PA 15074 or Charlotte Hospice and Palliative Care 900 Donita Dr. Lincolnton, NC 28092

  1. So many fond memories of my cousin Evelyn, better known to me as Skip. She was a very special lady. I remember her husband Jack coming to our home to repair our television..

    My sympathies to her family.

    She is now in the sweet arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
