Michael James Szelc

Michael James Szelc, 68, of Moon Township, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026.

Born in Alexandria, Virginia, on November 17, 1957, Michael was the son of Jean (Nichols) Burney and the late Theodore Szelc. He was the beloved brother of Nancy, Carol, and Betty Anne and was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Szelc.

Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He shared 39 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Melissa (Bender). He was the proud father of Nicholas (Kristen) Szelc and Rachel (Matt Abbott) Szelc.

Michael dedicated 42 years of service to US Airways as a Fleet Service Agent. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to his profession throughout his long career.

In his younger years, Michael enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and golfing. He also had a passion for working with his tools and took great pride in spending time outdoors, maintaining projects around the home and enjoying the satisfaction of hard work.

Friends will be received on Friday, June 5, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:30 PM until the time of Funeral Service at 7:30 PM at The Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Township, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Michael’s name may be made to the Humane Society.

Michael will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
