Mary Bernadette (Wills) McMahon

Mary Bernadette (Wills) McMahon, 79, of Moon Township, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and her cherished pets.

Mary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 9,1947. She lived a life defined by her devotion to her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Michael George McMahon; her aunt, Catherine McWhirk; and her uncle, Samuel William McWhirk.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Kimberley Johnson (Brian) of North Carolina and Janine McMahon of Moon Township; her grandson, Declan Johnson; her three pets, Ottis, Oliver and Oscar; and her many dear friends.

Mary spent much of her working life in healthcare, caring for others in the way that came naturally to her. She was a strong, funny, quick-witted woman, and never afraid to say exactly what was on her mind. She enjoyed the routines of everyday life, starting her days with her newspapers, spending time on her iPad, looking forward to her Starbucks deliveries, and never missing an episode of The Young and the Restless or Deadliest Catch.

Although Mary was a homebody for much of her earlier life, she discovered later an excitement for travel. International travel became one of her favorite pastimes. Over the years, Mary visited more than 30 countries, including some of her favorites: the United Kingdom, Belize, Germany, Denmark, Saint Kitts, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, Vatican City, Italy, and the Republic of Ireland. She loved the times she spent exploring Europe. Ireland was especially meaningful to Mary, and it is where her family and friends will gather to honor her life.

Mary’s greatest role in life was being a mother and a grandmother. Mary found immense joy in her family. She was the incredibly proud mother of Kimberley and Janine. She was their friend, their constant, and one of the most important people in their lives. Her daughters’ love for her was immeasurable, and the bond they shared was one that will never be broken by her passing.

She adored her beloved grandson, Declan Johnson, and was endlessly proud of the young man he was becoming. Watching Declan grow, succeed, and pursue the things he enjoyed gave Mary happiness that she carried with her always.

Mary also shared a special bond with her son-in-law, Brian, whom she never thought of only as a son-in-law, but as a son. Their relationship was a beautiful reflection of the family Mary created around herself.

Her home was filled with the people and pets she treasured. It was fitting that Mary spent her final moments at home, surrounded by those who loved her and who had been such an important part of her life.

Mary instilled in her family the importance of strength, resilience, and endurance. She meant more to her family than words could ever express. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and will be missed every single day. Mary will forever be simply Mom.

A private service for family and friends will be held in one of the place Mary loved most, Galway, Ireland.
