Elsie Catherine Antel

Elsie Catherine Antel of Aliquippa, PA, went to sleep in the Lord on Saturday, April 26th.  She was born on July 25, 1930, the daughter of the late William Nason Hengst and Matilda Mae Hengst of Altoona, PA.  Elsie was always a very active and social person, often attending square dances and riding her bicycle.  In high school she was a sharp shooter in the rifle club.  She met her husband at a friend’s social gathering.  After high school she worked at Black’s Pharmacy in Altoona and attended classes in business school.  After marriage Elsie settled into being a mother and housewife,   raising ten children.  She still loved socializing and traveling but her favorite activities were sewing, making crafts, crocheting, and baking for friends and family.  She was also well known for making goat milk fudge that she sold at Brunton’s family dairy. Elsie was a member of the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Antel, her siblings, Mary Kennedy, William Hengst Jr., George Hengst and her son Glenn Antel.  She is survived by her children, Sharon Moses, Gary Antel, Daryl Antel, Carol Ellison, Howard Dean Antel, Marjorie Lapson, Connie Lukazewicz, Denise DiVittis, Janine Morgan, 17 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

A memorial service honoring her life will be held on Monday, April 28th at 11:00 am at the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church in Aliquippa, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church Sunday School or to the Youth Group 4128 PA 151 Aliquippa PA 15001.
