Effie V. Rimer
Effie V. Rimer, born May 1, 1930 in Westover, PA to the late James and Frances Brothers, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2025.
After relocating to Conway, PA to seek employment, she met and married her husband, Howard Rimer of 30 years, before death separated them. They were the parents of three children, Kathleen Dulaney, Darlene Rimer, and James (Donna) Rimer.
She was saved at the age of 12 years old and grew in the Lord becoming a faithful worker in the church. Effie taught Sunday School, VBS, was in the choir, playing the piano/organ and doing whatever her hands found to do. In 1965, when the Lord called her husband to ministry, she found herself wearing a new hat of “pastor’s wife” where she continued to serve with the same fervency and faithfulness at Millerstown Methodist Church for 14 years.
After the passing of her husband, she worked at Valley News, Tarentum, PA before moving to Chippewa to be closer to her family. In Chippewa, she joined Riverview Methodist Church, serving in the choir, playing the piano when needed, attending Bible Study and Sunday School. Always and wherever she was, Effie had a carload of people taking them with her to church and different events. Before moving to Aliquippa, she also worked at Burger King for many years. After moving to Aliquippa, she began to regularly attend New Life Presbyterian Church (Rev. Jarod Nelson)
