Fred William Geldmaker III

Fred William Geldmaker III, 73 of Moon Twp., passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 11, 2024, after an 8 year battle with prostate cancer.  He was born in Patterson, New Jersey, the son of the late Fred and Joanne Geldmaker.  A natural salesman at heart with a marketing degree, he spent his career in numbers-related positions.  He and his family moved to Pittsburgh 21 years ago when he joined the Bayer property tax team.  He served with the Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era.  Fred was proud to be an Eagle Scout and, as Scout Master of Troop 310 in Moon, he viewed it as his responsibility to help every scout earn that rank.  For him, it was a shining moment to award Eagle Scout to both his sons. He was a family man at his core, and his three children, in his eyes, could do no wrong. Fred’s hobbies included coin collecting, particularly Indian head pennies, camping and the outdoors, trains, and a life-long desire to own a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He religiously bought lottery tickets, saving any winnings to tithe to a deserving charity at the end of the year.  Cape May, NJ was his beloved vacation spot. Weeks spent there were filled with days at the beach, visiting the lighthouse, and bird watching.  Fred was an incredible husband, father, and friend.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother Laura Geldmaker and aunt, Dorothy Geldmaker; and three canine kids, Boomer, Clouseau, and Molly.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, three children: Timothy of Moon Twp.; William of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and Laura of Scottsdale, AZ; three siblings: Bethany (Bill) Geldmaker, Gretchen (Tom) Johns, and Jonathan (Tammy) Geldmaker; and his beloved animals, Oliver, Ryuk, and Pepper.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 3pm until 7pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Moon Twp.
