Jane Ann Davies, 69, of Moon Twp., passed away on April 13, 2022 in her home. She was born in Oil City, on March 12, 1953 the daughter of the late, Thomas & Phyllis (Dunn) Davies.

Jane was a graduate of Moon Area High School and attended Slippery Rock State College graduating with a BS in elementary education. She then obtained her graduate degree in elementary education and certification as a reading specialist. She taught over 30 years in elementary education at all the Moon elementary schools and personally tutored children in her free time. Jane coached the women’s Moon Lassie League and their Pittsburgh League. She was also an accomplished seamstress.  Jane enjoyed vacationing at the beach with friends and liked to bowl. Jane was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan. She was a member of the Coraopolis United Methodist church and sang in the choir. Her love of animals was evident by her caring for her 3 cats and neighborhood strays. Jane was an avid reader and belonged to a local book club. She also greatly enjoyed going to movies, concerts, shows, and plays and would travel to Minnesota to catch a friend’s show. Jane enjoyed living in Moon Twp and being around all of her friends.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Davies, Moon Twp., an aunt Erma Davies (William) Hermitage, PA, a cousin Jill Hockenberry (Greg) Wooster, Ohio and a cousin Bill Prestipino Oil City, PA.

Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 11AM on April 23rd in the Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Twp. (1522 Coraopolis Hts. Rd.) Interment will be private and will take place at Sewickley Cemetery.

  3. Losing a friend is so difficult. However, knowing that she spent her life helping so many people – and animals – we know that she is resting in Peace in Heaven.

  4. Pat, I am so sorry for your loss. Jane was a roommate my senior year at SR, and we were able to reconnect and meet for lunch several times in recent years. I will treasure the last time we met in 2019. You and the rest of your family are in my thoughts. Jane will be missed.

  5. It was a privilege to have known Jane since our time together in Girl Scouts and throughout our teaching careers at Moon. I’m so sorry she is not with us now to spread her kindness and present her calming aura.

  7. So sad to learn of Janes passing this week. We will miss this special lady in our life. She was so caring and kind person to so many people, but most of all her love for cats and other animals was over the top! I know she will be in charge somewhere in heaven and taking care all the cats and other animals! Jane, we love you and will miss you!

    We shared a love of tearooms and enjoyed afternoon tea over the years.
    I’ll never forget her thoughtfulness to my granddaughter. She had a giving heart. My heartfelt sympathy to Pat.

    However, we should all rejoice that she has eternal life with our Father. No more pain, suffering, falls, etc. She is in a better place!

  10. So sorry we will not have Jane’s presence in our lives. I worked with her in the Moon elementary schools and took advantage of her outstanding sewing skills. Will miss her.

  11. I just learned of Jane’s passing and am sad that she is gone. Sending prayers to Pat and all who knew and loved Jane. I met her through my grandmother, who was married to Jane & Pat’s father. She was always such a sweet soul. Rest easy in the arms of Jesus!
