William T. Redfern
William T. Redfern, 90, of Moon Twp., died on August 30, 2021 in his home. He was born in Penn Hills, on July 25, 1931 the son of the late William H. & Edna (Lintelman) Redfern.
He graduated from Penn Hills High School and served his country in the US Army, in the Panama Canal, during the Korean War. For a brief period, he also worked for the railroad while going to PIA. He then moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan to work with Capital Airlines. In 1960 he moved back residing in Moon Township to work with United Airlines where he worked until his retirement in 1994, after 38 years of service as an aircraft mechanic. He was a longtime member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Moon Twp. Bill was a faithful worker with the Tuesday night Bingos. He was a member of the United Retirees group which he enjoyed the numerous breakfasts and other functions. He also enjoyed camping trips, and bus trips to the casinos with his beloved wife, Ruth (Marks) Redfern, who preceded him in death in 2014.
He is survived by his three children: Cynthia Jamison (Jeff), Hopewell Twp.; Thomas Redfern, Hershey, PA; Steven Redfern (Kara), NC. Five grandchildren: Amanda Laing (Travis), Sarah Jamison, Ethan Redfern, Aleah Redfern & Sophia Redfern. Two great grandchildren, Oliver & Quincy Laing. Two sisters-in-law and many nieces & nephews will miss him as well.
Friends will be received on Thursday September 2nd from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM in the Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Twp. (1522 Coraopolis Hts. Rd.) Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 10 AM in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Moon Twp. interment and military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Twp.
