Florence Dale Johnston Hellmann

Florence Dale Johnston Hellman, 98, of New Sewickley Twp., died on Sunday April 28, 2019.  She was born on Good Friday, March 25, 1921 in Monaca, the daughter of the late John A. and Ida J. (Corless) Johnston.  She lived for 50 plus years on Big Knob Rd. in New Sewickley Twp.

She worked at G.C. Murphy Co, W.T. Grant, and Rochester Hospital.  She was a member of the Oak Grove Lutheran Church, New Sewickley Twp. Florence was very active in community and church.  She served as president of the Rochester Woman’s Club, the Freedom Football Mothers, the King Beaver Residents Association, and the Passavant Home Auxiliary.  She also ran the gift shop at Passavant Home for several years.  She was involved in many other community and church organizations and activities. She was an avid bowler, card player, and traveler.

He beloved husband George, her parents, her sister Jean (Ward), her brother John, her infant son Donald, and her step father Henry (Cassi) preceded Florence in death.

She is survived by her son George and his wife Joan Hellmann, Harrisburg; her sister Henrietta Cassi, Rochester, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2~4 and 6~8pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Rochester.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Oak Grove Lutheran Church.
