Kenneth C. Cavanaugh

 

Kenneth C. Cavanaugh, 82, of Hopewell Township, passed away September 17, 2018, in Heritage Valley Beaver.  He was born on April 23, 1936, son of the late Kenneth A. and Elsie M. (Romesburg) Cavanaugh.  He celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his loving wife Esther (Workman) whom he married on August 2, 1958.  Including his wife, he will be missed by his three children and their spouses Craig & Mary Cavanaugh of New Wilmington, Eric & Dawn Cavanaugh of Burgettstown, and Coleen & Shawn Pangan of Hopewell Twp.  He was ‘Paw’ to eight wonderful grandchildren and their spouses, Carl & Steph, Blake, Tarah & Jason, Caitlin & Pipo, Natasha & Lane, Claire, Serena, and Bob & Megan.  He had 13 great-grandchildren with another on the way, Caiden, Matthew, Abel, Tommy, Alex, Fiona, Ellie, Meryl, Delilah, Everett, Hunter, Ben, and Indayara.

Ken was the oldest of four children and is survived by his two sisters & brother-in-law, Marlene & Richard McLellon, Betty Cavanaugh, and a sister-in-law Patricia Cavanaugh.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Cavanaugh.

He retired from LTV Steel, then worked security at Phoenix Glass before retiring again 17 years ago.  Ken enjoyed his retirement by spending time & traveling with this family.  For over 40 years, he enjoyed spending time at his camp in the Allegheny National Forest, fishing the Clarion River, and reading western novels.

 

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses on the 3rd floor and the critical care unit at Heritage Valley Beaver for their compassionate care.

 

Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, September 20th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the Huntsman Funeral Home of Aliquippa (2345 Mill Street).  A private burial service at the Grandview Cemetery in Burgettstown will be held on Friday at 11 AM.
