Omar J. “Sonny” Dempsey

Omar J. “Sonny” Dempsey, 74 of Independence township passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday October 13th 2016. He was born May 30th 1942. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the blockade of Cuba. He retired from RB&W Company and also worked at Moon Township School District. Sonny had a great love for his family and his farm. He enjoyed the life of a farmer taking care of his cows and working on the farm on his John Deere 70. He loved going to tractor pulls and spending time with his many friends going out to dinner. If Sonny spotted a tractor in a farmers field, he thought nothing of stopping in to introduce himself and talk about tractors. While he arrived as a stranger, he left as a new friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved father Omar L. Dempsey, and his mother Emma Dempsey. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia Dempsey; a daughter Jackie Pratchenko-Hribar and her children: Jason Pratchenko, Elizabeth Ventresca, Vincent Ventresca and Jacob Hribar; a daughter and son-in-law: Tiffany and Gregg Henning and their children: Zachary and Sydney Henning; sister-in-law: MaryJane Bradford (Bill) sister-in-law: Cathy Ratzel (Jimmy) and many wonderful, life long friends including his special friend Anthony Ventresca. At Sonny’s request, all services are private. A memorial luncheon will be announced at a later date. Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa is entrusted with the arrangements.
