Ellen Joan Eger, age 75, of Sewickley, passed away on June 14, 2026, daughter of the late Dr. Elmer and Elaine Solomon Eger and sister of the late Marsha Eger. Survived by brother, Dr. Mark Eger (Susan), nephews Dr. Noah Eger (Michele), Jason Eger (Julie), Max Brown (Nansa), grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and dear friends. Funeral arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to: Masonic Village of Sewickley, 1000 Masonic Drive, Sewickley, PA. 15143

My deepest sympathy and prayers at this trying time.
Ellie was a dear friend and I was so saddened by her passing. We lived in the same apartment building in Coraopolis for years until she moved to the Masonic Village. From then until her death we corresponded by phone. One special thing we shared together was our different heritage. She would wish me all the best on my Christian holidays, and I would wish her all the best on hers. Every Hanukkah, I would send her a “Hanukkah package” with 8 gifts for her to open each day of Hanukkah. Ellie would open the box of gifts all at once!! She was so funny. I will miss her very, very much.

Ellen was a quiet and sweet soul. She will be missed by fellow classmates of Moon High ‘69.

My husband and I wish to send our deepest condolences on the passing of Ellie. I got to know Ellie as I cared for her at Masonic Village and we became friends. My husband knew Ellie as well from the facility. She would always visit my husband at the front desk after dinner and they would talk about everything for hours. She had a wonderful and kind personality with a quick witted humorous side that would brighten our days. Ellie had an animated figure that would sing the Dreidel song in different genres, I would play it every time I went into her room and it would make us both give us a hardly happy laugh. I always found time to sit and spend with her to discuss whatever was going on. When it came to knowing the news, she was better than Walter Cronkite, she was an amazingly intelligent woman. God gained an angel for sure. May she have eternal rest.

So sorry to hear about Ellen’s passing. She was a dear friend in high school. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of her dear family at this most difficult time.
Grateful that I shared classes & activities with Ellie at Moon, especially remembering Library Club & our Charlie Brown skit we did for the children at D.T. Watson Home. Often with a gleam in her eyes, Ellie would share her quiet sense of humor. So sad to hear of Ellie’s death. May God comfort all of her family & friends.
