Henry Karbowski

On November 11, 2021, Henry Karbowski, loving husband and father of four children, passed away peacefully at home at age 96.

Henry was born in 1925 in Carnegie, PA, to Appolonia and Walerian Karbowski. He was raised in Poland from the age of 4, and at the age of 16 joined the Polish Army, Royal Air Force and the U.S. Army to fight in World War II.  He returned to the United States after the War and started his own contracting business.  Henry’s passion for skiing and world traveling led him to experience the diverse cultures of many countries, including China, Russia, India, Egypt, Brazil, and nearly every country in Europe.  He was known for his dedication to hard work and his devotion to family.

Henry is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marion (Merchant) Karbowski; his four children, Henry D. (Maureen) Karbowski, Pauline Barnes, Judith A. (Russell Rugani) Karbowski, and Faith (Joseph) Vallese; five grandchildren, Melissa (Ben) Kremers, Jeff (Sonia) Karbowski, Meghan (Brian) Cline, Alexandra Barnes; and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Henry Karbowski; his brother, Michael (Lois) Karbowski, and sister Michelle (Daniel) Pituch and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation on Sunday November 14th from 2-6pm and also on Monday from 2-4PM and 6-8PM in the Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Twp. (1522 Coraopolis Hts. Rd.).  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Moon Twp. (Everyone please meet at the church) Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Moon Twp.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or 800-272-3900. 

The family of Henry Karbowski wishes to thank the medical staff at Amedisys Hospice in Washington, PA and UPMC Mercy Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care provided to our father, Henry, and our family.

    God will have a special place one day for you for taking such excellent care of Henry, always beside his side, caring for him and showing your compassion and love for the man in your life.

  3. I work with Fay and have heard numerous stories of her father and recognized the love and admiration she had for him. My deepest condolences to the family. May you find comfort knowing he is at peace and in the memories of his life.
