Jane Erdene (Hainley) Schuliger
Jane Erdene (Hainley) Schuliger of Moon Township passed away and her soul went to heaven on Saturday, November 16, 2024. She was born on May 15, 1933 in Marsteller, PA to the late George John and Emma Lowell (Hysong) Hainley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Donald, and Gary Hainley.
Jane was a 1951 graduate of Ebensburg High School. Following graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she became the secretary to Clyde Folson, J. Edgar Hoover’s associate director at the FBI. After her work there, she worked at Household Finance in several different cities. Later, Jane worked in the business office of the Moon Area School District and eventually became the secretary at Hyde Elementary School. She loved interacting with the staff, students, and parents at Hyde.
Jane was a member of Sharon Community Presbyterian Church for more than 55 years. In her early years there, she and her husband Wayne were active members of Merry Mates Couples Club. She was also the co-leader of Sharon Church Youth Club for 5 years.
Jane enjoyed sitting with her favorite chihuahua, Buster, who spent many hours in her lap. She loved shopping, reading, eating pizza, watching Hallmark movies, and spending time with her family. Going to craft fairs was a favorite activity where she was always in search of that special treasure to add to her collection of Santas. Jane absolutely loved Christmas! She always made Christmas very special for her family with a wide variety of homemade cookies and breads, her many Christmas displays, her delicious turkey dinners, and her handpicked gifts for each of us. We will always remember “A Gift for You!”
Jane was a huge supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending many activities, including band concerts, baseball games, dance recitals, soccer games, back-to-school shopping trips, musicals, art shows, voice recitals, and graduations. She also spent many hours playing games and reading to the little ones. As one our greatest cheerleaders, she will be greatly missed.
Jane is survived by her husband of 70 years, Wayne Schuliger, and her children Karen Ritter (Jeff) of Moon Township and Brian Schuliger (Janine) of Delray Beach, FL and Wexford, PA. She is also survived by grandchildren Michael Ritter (Charoma), Amy Knox (Jacob), Anna Schuliger, Brienne Schuliger, and Christina Schuliger and great-grandchildren Elijah Fils-Aime, Ellie Jane Knox, Claire Knox, Caleb Knox, Grady Knox, and Desmond Ritter.

I will always remember my Aunt Jane as having a loving interest in my family. She and my Uncle Wayne have attended every important event and shown their support for us always. I will miss you, Aunt Jane
Our family didn’t get to see Aunt Jane often, after moving out of PA, but she and Uncle Wayne were always warm and welcoming! We remember them dancing at our wedding in ‘77, occasional get togethers at her brother, Don’s home in Altoona and her loving support at Don and Helen’s funerals.
We are so sorry to be unable to make it back to PA for her service today. Our thoughts and prayers are with Uncle Wayne, Karen and Brian and their families today🙏❤️ May all the wonderful memories of Jane bring you some comfort today. God bless.
To the entire Schuliger family,
So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Unfortunately I will be out of town and unable to give you my sympathy in person. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH JEFF & KAREN. I DID NOT KNOW THEM WELL BUT I KNOW THEY WERE BOTH OUTSTANDING STUDENTS AND OUTSTANDING PEOPLE. I WISH I COULD SAY SOMETHING THAT WOULD HELP, BUT NOTHING REALLY PREPARES YOU FOR THIS. I HAD TO PUT BOTH MOM & DAD TO REST IN RECENT YEARS. TAKE CARE.
