Mary Ann Dilworth

Mary Ann Dilworth, 92, formerly of Wilmington Delaware died on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a brief illness.  She was born on May 29, 1932 to John Monroe Fairchild and Esther Emmalene Freas in Berwick, PA.  She married Robert Emmett Dilworth, Jr. on July 17, 1954 in Berwick, PA.  They met while both were attending Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA.  

Mary Ann is survived by son, John (Julie) of Winslow, Arkansas, son William (Gaylene) of Moon Township, PA, and daughter Judith Cantrell (Sean) of Bridgeville, DE, grandchildren Rita Dilworth, Robert Dilworth IV, Jacob (Evelyn) Dilworth, and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Fairchild, her sister Elsie Mitchell, her son Robert Emmett Dilworth III, and her grandson Kevin James Dilworth.

Mary Ann taught English in the Norristown, PA and Claymont, DE schools and sponsored the Claymont High School yearbooks for several years.  She was an enthusiastic volunteer with organizations, including Green Circle, NCCJ, Meals-On-Wheels, The Wellness Center, and many others.  In recognition of her years of service, she received the Governor of Delaware’s Outstanding Volunteer Award.

She was a Charter Member and served on the Board (along with her husband, Bob) of the Dickinson Theater Organ Society since its inception in 1969. 

The Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Twp. is in charge of arrangements.

There will be a private family internment service at Morris Cemetery in Phoenixville, PA at a future date.
