Georgia Ann (Cain) Martin

Georgia Ann (Cain) Martin, 77, of Clinton, formerly of Liverpool, NY, died on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in the Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford.  She was born in Avalon, on January 13, 1945, to the late George R. & Anna Louise (Weckesser) Cain.

In all things, Georgia carried her faith in God and Salvation to our Lord Jesus Christ with her in everything she did.

During her teen years, Georgia volunteered as the first candy striper at Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue. This experience started her love of nursing. After high school graduation, Georgia graduated Sewickley Valley School of Nursing in 1965. Kicking off her career at Five North she worked in all areas of the hospital, loving each rotation in each of the departments. She would continue her career there for several more years, working up to Head Nurse until 1989 when life had taken her to Syracuse, NY. Her career continued as Head Nurse at Auburn General. Later on, Georgia would move on to be the Director of Nursing at Plaza Nursing Home (formally Rosewood Heights Health Center). During her time there, she would earn the New York State Associate of Homes and Services of the Aging’s 2004 Long Term Care Employee of Distinction award. This award recognized those individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to make personal sacrifices to improve the lives of others.  She continued to be the Director of Nursing at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Chittenango, wrapping up her time in NY. Moving back to the Pittsburgh region in 2018, Georgia would continue to work as the MDS coordinator for Beaver Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Georgia retired on September 27, 2022, just three weeks before her death.

Georgia took great joy in serving other people. Throughout her life, she was active in Church, volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America, the Seneca Valley Raiders Quarterback club, the Cicero-North Syracuse Quarterback club, and countless others. Her volunteer efforts would earn her the District of Merit Award from the Glacier Ridge District from the Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, the Cicero-North Syracuse football booster club would create an Academic Scholarship in her name, honoring Georgia for all of her efforts.

Georgia had an immense love for her family, showcasing that love every chance she had. She would come to meet her husband, Ronald, in 1964. Married for 56 years, they would go on to have 4 sons. Georgia loved to take her family to countless amusement parks and sports games. Sharing her love of sports, Georgia would take her family to attend Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penn State games, and Golf tournaments. The family game night would always include at least a few rounds of Yahtzee and a game of Monopoly. After the boys were raised, Georgia’s favorite pastimes included cruises with her husband, exploring towns in car rides, and watching the planes at Pittsburgh Airport

She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Ronald W. Martin, and four sons, Ronald W. Martin II, his wife Megan, and their four children Gabrielle, Rebecca, Samara, and Sarah and their grandchildren Jason, Every, Lucas, and Marcelline, of Liverpool, NY; Brian Andrew Martin, of Coraopolis; George Raymond Martin, his wife Melissa and their son Grant, of Clover, SC; Stephen R. 1. Words cannot express how sorry I am to know of the passing of Georgia. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few times in my life, as she was my sister Pat Martin sister-in-law. My sister Pat & her husband Don Martin thought highly of Georgia. I will say “she fought the good fight and was faithful to the Lord God & his son Jesus Christ “ until the end of her days. Prayers for you Ronald, all the children and grandchildren!

  2. You were the strongest woman that I have ever known, I am honored to have you as a mother, thank you for each and every thing that you have ever done for me. I will miss you ever day.

  3. We are so sorry to here of Georgia’s passing. We were neighbors back on Cricketwood Court in Mars Pa many many years ago. I feel blessed to have known her. She was a woman of strong faith who showed love to everyone she came in contact with. Praying God will give you all the comfort you need at this time. Your mom was one in a million.

  4. On October 20th of 2022 my Mother went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Mom fought a hard fight against cancer for 22 years. I am so blessed to have had such a wonderful Mother.  It brings great peace to me to know that she believed in salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  My mother and father have been married for over 56 years.  Dad, I am so sorry for your loss.  The love that they have for another is rare and will never end.

Mom was a Godly, beautiful, loving, caring and compassionate person who always put others needs before her own.  Even while she was in pain my mother was more concerned about my dad.  Mom and dad dedicated countless years to scouting and making a difference in the lives of hundreds of people.  Mom graduated from Nursing School in 1965 and dedicated her life to caring for others up until her recent retirement.

I am so grateful for the special memories that Mom and I had together.  We went to golf tournaments together with the US Open at Oakmont being the highlight.  We had such a great experience together watching each day of the tournament and seeing her favorite golfers.  We also had a lot of special moments while going to Disney World together.  Mom would come with me to watch me run the races at Disney.  She enjoyed riding the rides with me, even the roller coasters.  To see her smile while on the rides with me brought me great joy.  Our favorite treat to get was creme brulee at Epcot at Disney World. I am going to really miss those special moments.

I have no doubt that my Mother was greeted in Heaven and was told:  “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.  Thank you for being the best Mom a son could ever ask for in life.  Dad, thank you for being the best Dad a son could ask for in life.  All my love, your son Brian.
