Rosa Louise Miller

Rosa Louise Miller, 94, of Hopewell Twp., passed away peacefully on July 1, 2016 just 3 days before her birthday on July 4th. She died of natural causes, at Rochester Manor & Villa, in Rochester, where she had been a resident since June 2015. Prior to residing at Rochester Manor & Villa, she lived in Hopewell Twp. at her home of 66 years. Rosa was born in Woodlawn, now known as West Aliquippa, on July 4, 1921 and graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1938. During WWII, she served her country by working at the Pittsburgh Forgings Company in Coraopolis. After the war, she worked as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company before she left the workforce for 26 years to raise her 2 children. When her husband retired in 1973, due to a disability; Rosa returned to the workforce and pursued several opportunities until her retirement from the Hopewell School System in 1986. Rosa was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 69 years, Richard L. Miller, Sr. who passed away on Feburary 19, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John H. Zanath (1939) and Thelma W. Zanath (1992), as well as her brother, John R. Zanath (2015). She is survived by her 2 children: Carol Ann (Miller) Tangerini and husband Robert Tangerini of Taylors, SC and Richard L. Miller, Jr. and wife Linda Miller of Hopewell Twp. 3 Granddaughters: Jennifer Florie (Mike), Jill Payne, and Joy Bailley (Paul) of Taylors, SC; a step-grandson: Donald Sisler (Shelley) of Greentree; 5 great grandchildren: Brittany Ducker, Blane Bailley, Drew Bailley, Madison Payne, and Nathan Payne, all of Taylors, SC. She is also survived by her brother-in-law: Robert A. Miller of New Brighton; 2 sisters-in-law: Phyllis Miller of Raccoon Twp., and Katherine Miller of Hopewell Twp. as well as many nieces & nephews. There will be no viewing. The Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Aliquippa is in charge of arrangements. Friends will be received from 12 Noon until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM on Wednesday July 6th in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hopewell Twp. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville., where Rosa will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Richard L. Miller, Sr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Our Lady of Fatima Church (2270 Brodhead Rd. Aliquippa, PA 15001) where she was a member.
