Jim E. Maier

James “Jim” E. Maier, 63, died unexpectedly on October 22, 2016 in Mercy Hospital. He was born on March 13, 1953, a son of Lois (Mullan), and the late Edward Maier. Jim loved the outdoors. He enjoyed bird watching, traveling, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a certified horse farrier, and was involved with “friends of Old Economy” and “friends of Great Black Swamp”. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Ellwood City. Jim was retired from Conrail /Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he worked in the Engine House and various positions in the company. Jim married the love of his life, Barbara (Hall) Maier on April 16, 2016, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Aaron (Michele) Maier, Ryan Maier, Michael Farah, Brandon Farah, and Elizabeth Coder and his “best bud” grandson, Lucas Maier. He is also survived by his siblings, Leta McNear, Barbara (Roy) Shodd, Joanne Altobello and Janet (Rick) Grant and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Edward Maier, David Maier, Elaine McDaniels, Donald Maier and Patricia Maier. Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 3-8 PM, in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., of Rochester (502 Adams St.) where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM, by Rev. David Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “Parents in TOTO”, 143 S. Main St. Zelienople, PA. 16063.
