Jacob W. Benson

Jacob W. Benson of Rochester, aged 73, a loving father, grandfather and brother, took God’s hand to be led home on September 16, 2016, while at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver, PA. He was born in New Brighton on May 27, 1943, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, worked at Arco for many years and then finally as a delivery driver for an electrical supply company. Bill, as he was lovingly known to his family, was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ida (Creps) Benson, and his brothers Harry and Bobby, and his sisters, Arlene Clayton, Kay Brewer, Flo Bliss, Dot Benson and Barb Vidic. He is survived by his children, Shelley Phelps and Jeremy of San Antonio, TX; Tracy Knight and William of San Antonio, TX; his step-son Alvin Collins and Mindy of Aliquippa; four grandchildren, Cody Gaston, Nicholas Reak, Austin Phelps and David Phelps; his sisters Patty New and Jay of Aliquippa and Shirley Evans of Monaca; his brother-in-law and best friend, Bo Vidic; his sister-in-law Ruby Benson; his fiancĂ© of 27 years, Dee Gallagher and her sons Randy and Billy and her daughter Rhonda Colangelo and Mike and their children Tracy, Justin and Joey. There will be no public visitation or services at his request. His family and friends will gather at Brady’s Run for a picnic to honor him on his birthday on May 27, 2017. All other services are handled by the Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Rochester.
