Eugene F. “Gene” DiSanti, Sr., 83, of Moon Twp. formerly of New Castle, died on Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Allegheny General Hospital. He was born in New Castle on September 2, 1933, to the late Desiderio “Ted” & Clara (D’anessa) DiSanti. Gene is survived by and was the loving husband, for 61 years, of Angeline (Morrone) DiSanti. Gene and Angie were the center of each other’s lives and set extraordinary examples of good character and family values to their children and grandchildren. Gene was the beloved father of Marcie Knittel (Joe), Robinson Twp.; Anthony DiSanti, New Castle; Kathy DiLorenzo (Jeff), Cranberry Twp.; Stephanie DiSanti, Moon Twp., Gene DiSanti (Cheryl), Robinson Twp.; David DiSanti (Janene), Slippery Rock. He was the “Best Pap Ever” to Michelle Morici-Knittel (Evan Hanna), Danielle McCommons, Christopher DiLorenzo (Jackie), Joseph Knittel, Brittany Edgerton, Lisa DiLorenzo, Tracy Knittel, Nicholas DiSanti, Maria DiSanti, Dustie DiSanti, Alexa DiSanti, Emily DiSanti & Olivia DiSanti. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a brother, Desiderio “Ted” DiSanti, Jr. a sister, Maxine DiSanti and a daughter-in-law, Pam DiSanti. Gene owned and operated DiSanti Arco Service Station for over 30 years. He was held in highest regard by his loyal customers, and he became their friend. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and was formerly a member of the Lions Club of New Castle and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, New Castle. Gene’s greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family. They never tired of hearing his one-liners that were repeated hundreds of times over the years. Gene’s other passions were watching Gunsmoke, drinking Miller Lite, and snacking whenever possible. Gene also loved sports. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Penn State. For many years, he shot fireworks shows, including the 4th of July show at the Washington Monument. Gene loved working in his home wood shop, and all of his children and grandchildren treasure the furniture, toys, and other pieces of his handiwork that they will have forever as a memory of him. Viewing services are private. However, a mass for all friends and family will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 199 McGovern Blvd., Crescent Township, 15046. The Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Twp. is in charge of arrangements. Private entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Twp.
