Gilda (Berardi) Pitaro

Gilda (Berardi) Pitaro, 92, of Coraopolis and South Heights, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Caring Heights Nursing Home.  She was born in Coraopolis, PA on April 12, 1929 the daughter of the late Basile & Maria Berardi. She started a ceramic shop in her basement in the 60s where she taught numerous classes for many years to her friends.  She also enjoyed dancing with her husband.  She was a member of St. Catherine’s of Sienna Catholic Parish. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Eugene “Beets” Pitaro in 2012, a son Freddi Pitaro in 2019; and 4 siblings: Angelo, Arthur, Enrico, and Josephine Berardi.

She is survived by her three children: Jeffery Pitaro, Tammy (Perry) Spinosi, and Bryan (Pam) Pitaro; a daughter-in-law: Michele Pitaro; 3 grandchildren: Dante (Kelsey) Spinosi, Julian (Shannon) Spinosi, and Luke Pitaro; 3 great grandchildren: Liam, Ava, and Liviana; and two siblings: Alfred (Anna) Berardi, and Emma Lacenere; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3pm ~ 7pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Moon Twp., 1522 Coraopolis Heights Rd.  where a blessing service will be held on Wednesday at 10am.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

  2. Condolences to the family of Gilda. I may have met her once or twice through the years but my mother absolved loved her. We bought many of her ceramic creations as she was so very talented in her painting. Rest In Peace Gilda.

  4. Dear Tammy, Jeffrey and Bryan:
    I was so sorry to hear about the death of your mom, Gilda. I am not sure I will make either day because of my schedule but I wanted you to know how much I thought of her. She was always fun to be with and I remember her and my mom, Chris (Cushin) being together and enjoying their interactions. I did visit her when she was in the nursing home a couple of times but recently not because of Covid. Anyway I wanted you to know how much she meant to me and how she will be missed. With sympathy,
