Thelma A. Haffey

Thelma A. Haffey, 78 of Monaca, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 in Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver.   She was born in Aliquippa on January 9, 1943 the daughter of the late Thelma and Albert Call.  She retired after 28 years as a department manager at K-Mart in Rochester.  She was a member of the Monaca Junior Women’s Club.  She was the most amazing, loving, caring, and generous mother and grandmother anyone could ask for.   I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze, and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch her until she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to meet and mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: “There! She’s gone!” Gone where? Gone from my sight—that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination. Her diminished size is in me and not in her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says: “There! She’s gone!” there are other eyes that are watching for her coming; and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “There she comes!” And that (my friends) is—”dying.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband whom she will be celebrating 61 years of marriage in Heaven; David R. Haffey; and a brother Albert Call.
She is survived by her three daughters: Tammy (Paul) Daugherty, Monaca; Jennifer “Pooh” (Steven) Perell, Monaca with whom she resided with; and Janice (Brad) Young, Monaca.   4 grandchildren: “light of her life” Colten Perell, Jesse Daugherty, Jake (Hannah) Daugherty, and Austin Young; 5 great grandchildren: David, Gideon, Jaci, Alaina, and Kody; a sister: Penny (Lew) Napolitan, Center Twp.; a brother William Call, Beaver Falls; and a sister-in-law: May Call, Hookstown.  She is also survived by her beloved pup, Buddy.
All services are private.
