Lyle E. “Red” Schriner

Lyle E. “Red” Schriner, 82 of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Monday May 14, 2018 in his home. He was born on February 18, 1936 in Punxsutawney, PA the son of the late Leslie J. & Harriet Schriner. He worked for J&L Steel in Aliquippa, and the Boilermakers Union #154 in Pittsburgh, Beaver Valley Welding Supply in Center Township and Avis at the Pittsburgh International Airport. He was a US Navy Veteran and enjoyed tinkering, gardening and woodworking. He was a former member of the Clary Rod and Gun Club of Clearfield County. He was also a member of Mt. Carmel Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and served on the Tuesday Men’s Workgroup, in Aliquippa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Leslie, Harriet, David, Richard, and Thomas Schriner. He is survived by his wife Marietta (Meany) Schriner; two sons: Keith Schriner, Las Vegas, NV; and Barry Felix, Hopewell Twp.; and three siblings: Robert (Lynn) Schriner, Paul (Charlene) Schriner, and Suzanne Schriner, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8PM in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11AM conducted by Rev. Scott Branderhorst and Rev. Keith Black. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Carmel Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The family would like to thank the staff at VITAS Healthcare Hospice in Pittsburgh, for the excellent care they provided “Red”, where donations can also be made. “Red” had a way of making everyone laugh because he always had a story or joke to tell. His great sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
