Daniel F. Caton

Daniel F. Caton Sr., 83, of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Sunday July 9, 2017.  He was born on March 21, 1934 the son of the late Annette & Lee Caton.  He was retired from J&L LTV Steel and served for more than 25 years with the US Army retiring as a Master Sargent working with the 99th ARCom and the 443rd Field Depo.   He spent many years acting as Santa Claus in numerous stores throughout Beaver County.  He was a past president of the Hopewell Quarterback Club, and a member of the American Serbian Club and the Ambridge F.O.E.  He enjoyed gardening, watching college football and the Steelers.  He also was known as a little league umpire for many years.  He was a member of the Shannopin United Methodist Church in Glenwillard. .

He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley Caton, Hopewell Twp.; 4 sons: Michael Caton Sr., Beaver Falls, Scott (Dianne) Caton, Baden; Paul (Alisa) Caton, Brighton Twp., and Daniel Caton Jr., Hopewell Twp.; 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Josh) Minzler, Michelle (Kyle) Clemons, Michael (Katie) Caton Jr., Christopher (Emily) Caton, Lauren Caton, Megan Caton, and Thomas Caton; 11 great grandchildren; two bothers: Joe and Edward Caton, and his two constant companions Corey and Roxie.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 7 sisters and 4 brothers.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baden ( 399 State St.) at 11:00 AM conducted by Rev. Jill McGregor.

The members of the Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors at the church at 11:30am

  1. To the Caton family, Our sympathy and warm wishes to the entire family. Dan represents all the things that are part of the great memories we have for football and fellowship while we were in Hopewell. Dan was a good friend to all of us.
